Old man look in my eyes lyrics

The song compares a young man's life to an old man's and shows that the young man has, to some extent, the same needs as the old one. James Taylor played six-string banjo tuned like a guitar and sang on the song, and Linda Ronstadt also contributed vocals. In the film Heart of Gold , Young introduces the song as follows:. About that time when I wrote " Heart of Gold " , and I was touring, I had also—just, you know, being a rich hippie for the first time—I had purchased a ranch, and I still live there today. And there was a couple living on it that were the caretakers, an old gentleman named Louis Avila and his wife Clara. And there was this old blue Jeep there, and Louis took me for a ride in this blue Jeep.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young:Old Man Take A Look At My Life Lyrics

Neil Young at age of twenty five years old bought a ranch in North California from a couple of lawyers and before he had bought the ranch, there was old man living on it. Now, this is a beautiful written piece on the acoustic guitar and personally my favorite from Neil Young. When Young bought the ranch, I think he had bought it because he wanted to be in a beautiful quite place to write music in California.

This is a great point to relate to old men, and not every old man do this, but some go live on ranch because its peaceful and quite and you are just surrounded by nature. Others may have lived there their whole life and just have grown up on a ranch.

However, point is as young as you are you can still want the things in life an old man have and be similar. Anyways, I gotta say not a bad investment, especially to write on the ranch a Billboard Hot song.

What really brings this song a live in my opinion is that most of the song is finger picked on the acoustic guitar. When you just listen to it and especially the lyrics its so powerful towards Young and the way he sings it. That is just my take and my theory towards this song.

That is just because maybe some people can relate to his story as well, but it really is him just telling you a story about himself. A story where at young age he had same needs as an old man, and decided to take over this beautiful ranch in North California. In this song you learn that at any age you can still want and do the same things as an old man does, there is nothing wrong with that concept at all. I really found the back story to the song the most captivating to read about. When people hear this song, they really should be versed on the back story of the artist and lyrics because it makes the song even more meaningful.

Getting old can be sad but I love how Neil Young makes it seem enjoyable and that good things can still come like buying a ranch and living happily on it! Like Like. In my family, the rule is that whomever is driving has total control over the aux chord.

My brother just got his license, which means that I have been making him drive ME around. Reading your stance on it only continued to open my eyes and views of the song, and you did a great job on voicing your opinions and applying the tools we have learned in class in an effort to analyze it!

Great job Will! You picked such a good song! I really enjoyed your description of how the simplicity of the song is what makes it so good and adds meaning.

I never knew thats what the song was about so your critique truly enlightened me. I also loved hearing about the inspiration behind the song, as I think it brings even more power to the acoustic finger picking and the simple story of the lyrics. Great job! Old man, look at my life I'm a lot like you were Old man, look at my life I'm a lot like you were Old man, look at my life Twenty-four and there's so much more Live alone in a paradise That makes me think of two Love lost, such a cost Give me things that don't get lost Like a coin that won't get tossed Rolling home to you Old man, take a look at my life. I'm a lot like you I need someone to love me the whole day through Ah, one look in my eyes and you can tell that's true Lullabies, look in your eyes Run around the same old town Doesn't mean that much to me To mean that much to you I've been first and last Look at how the time goes past But I'm all alone at last Rolling home to you Old man, take a look at my life.

Old Man Songtext - Neil Young

Born and raised in Port McNicoll, John Arpin discovered his musical talents early: at the age of four he could pick out tunes on the piano that he had heard on the radio; by ten, he had been identified as a child prodigy by a Royal Conservatory of Music adjudicator. Equally at ease performing solo piano concerts, being accompanied by a full symphony orchestra, jamming with jazz greats, or accompanying opera singers, he was, perhaps, best known as the premier ragtime pianist of his day. Included are his friendships with Glenn Gould, Gordon Lightfoot, and others, his years as the designated artist for Yamaha, and his rise to prominence as a veteran of the concert stage. His stories represent pure Canadian music history. He followed Arpin's career with great enthusiasm for more than 58 years. Popple is also an accomplished amateur pianist. He lives at Nanoose Bay, Vancouver Island. John Arpin : Keyboard Virtuoso. Robert Popple. Yamahas Designated Artist.
